PRACTICAL IELTS Speaking

With PRACTICAL IELTS Speaking, it is advisable that you apply the following steps:

1. Read the question and sample answer carefully

You should first read and understand the question given and then study the sample answer that follows.

2. Expand necessary* vocabulary and ideas

Besides learning the new words presented after sample answers, it is suggested that you read the Further Reading sections and pay close attention to the underlined phrases and sentences to increase your stock of vocabulary and widen your knowledge on the related topics. You can also enrich your ideas by reading other materials like books and magazines or surfing the Internet to look for more topic-oriented information.

3. Prepare your own answers

After the first two steps, it is time for you to work out your own answers based on the sample ones and the information you have just searched for. Initially, you may write out your answers in full, but later on, you just jot down essential notes and practise speaking while taking a glance at them.

4. Arrange your prepared answers in a logical way

You should arrange what you have prepared into categorised topics, such as people, places, objects, experiences, etc. By doing so, you will have no difficulty in seeking appropriate vocabulary, expressions or ideas to express yourself in your actual test.
