English Grammar
What is English Grammar?
A set of rules that help us to read, write, and speak correctly and properly, is called English Grammar.
English Grammar Division?
The English Grammar is mainly divided into four parts
Orthography
It deals with the use of letters and the mode of combining them into words.
Etymology
It deals with the use of various classes of words and the changes they undergo.
Syntax
It deals with the use of connection and arrangement of words in sentences.
Prosody
It deals with the use of manner of speaking and reading.
What is letter, how many latters are there in English Language?
The smallest unit of English is called Letter, there are twenty six letters in English Language.
How many types of letter are there in English?
There are two type of letter in English
(i) Vowel : - A, E, I, O, U
(ii) Consonant: - B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z
What is word?
A group of letters that make complete sense is called word.
What is sentence?
A group of words which make a complete sense, is called a Sentence.
Kind of Sentences.
Sentences are of four type:
(i) Assertive
A sentence that make statements or assertions. End with period.
Eg. Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
(ii) Imperative
A sentence offer request or command. End with exclamation or period
Eg. Come in. Go away. Sit down.
(iii) Interrogative
A sentence that ask question. End with question mark
Eg. What is your name?
(iv) Exclamatory
A sentence express great emotion or excitement. End with exclamation mark
Eg. What a dire situation!
What is Paragraph?
A group of sentence which make complete sense and serve one common purpose is called Paragraph.
